 What is Obesity?


Obesity is a disease that affects many people in United Kingdom and in the world with indifference to sex, age, social class and other factors. This disease is due to excess body fat, ie, when the body has more calories than it needs to survive, these calories are accumulated in the body causing excessive weight. This does not mean that any person who is overweight is obese.
 Obese or overweight when it has far exceeded the ideal weight. There are different ways of measuring whether a person is obese or just overweight. According to Body Mass Index (BMI) is considered that a person is obese if their index (BMI) exceeds 30.

It is a chronic disease, meaning that persists over time. A man or woman who suffers from obesity may not decrease your body fat naturally from one day to another, but to do it.
Obesity markedly decreases quality of life of those suffering and prevent you from performing certain activities. In addition, obesity also causes an imbalance in the body, which has other issues, risks and complications. Obesity can trigger diseases such as diabetes or heart problems may also lead to complications including kidney failure, high blood pressure problems, varicose veins, besides being a risk factor for numerous other medical problems. Obesity is a major risk factor for suffering a heart attack or stroke.


This disease has no specific cause but may be due to several different endogenous and exogenous factors. In many cases it may be due to poor eating habits and also because a sedentary lifestyle (exogenous), while in other cases it may be caused by other diseases such as thyroid problems (endogenous). You can also have a strong hereditary component and due to a genetic predisposition of man or woman.
